Def Jam Vice Pres Shakir Stewart Dead

I’m saddened by this news. I’ve seen lesser men devoid of Shake’s many gifts withstand seemingly insurmountable obstacles so its hard to imagine the pain he must have been going through. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

WOAH, thats heavy. but you’re right. it takes a weak person to rob his FAMILY of his life. once you have a family you arent living for yourself any more. you owe it to them to LIVE thru whatever problem you think you may have.

btw…did the other dude you posted on who prod. for tupac commit suicide too? it happenned in the county, i think it may have been foul play although the news said he ‘jumped to his death’

i don’t think that your post or your comments are cold, i know that you are speaking what everyone is thinking and i commend you for having the heart to say it….

suicide is selfish! once you are born into this world you OWE it to your family and friends to tough it out!!!! seek counseling, seek JESUS….. seek anyone, talk to anyone- do whatever you have to do to get through it! LIFE is tough, relationships, work, family; all of these things are tough and we all know it but nothing gives any human the right to take their own life!!!!!!!!!! or another human for that matter……

my prayers go out to his family and friends- GOD BLESS!!!!

  5. it really makes you wonder. how could a man who seemingly had it all just take his own life?…Like you said, my heart goes out to his fam and friends.

I hate the tough guy approach to the death of a human.

I understand where you’re coming from…and if you were holding an open forum on suicide and people’s feelings on it then it would be okay.

I respect the move you’ve made and the music you’ve been doing, but I think that it is disrespectful to say that when speaking of somebody that passed.

They call you a “cold nigga” or saying what people are “scared” to say, but I just think that you open the post in a disrespectful fashion.

Not to say anything about you as a human being…I’m sure you’re a chill guy…just this one instance.

I’m also not saying that the whole post is disrespectful.

I’m just saying once I read the caption beneath that picture I said, “Damn…that’s a little harsh.”

  8. ^^^ i totally feel you! i accept criticism with an open mind. I think its important to remember to remain objective when we discuss certain events. if shake wasnt the well respected and successful person that he was known as you may not have had the same adverse reaction to my comment.

i choose not to post the obvious details of situations on my blog. People can get facts regurgitated on every other blog and website, my blog is a forum for me to express my REACTION to the situations/events i post on. Consequently, my primary reaction was to speak the first thing that came into my mind when i heard the news (so it became my caption) if ANYONE i know (or don’t know) committed suicide, those would ALWAYS be the first words out of my mouth.

Ive had an uncle murdered, my girlfriend’s father died, ive had friends die…so when it comes to SUICIDE it is hard for me to empathize or be anything other than harsh whether its shakir, my dear, obama, or my mama!!

I think you could be a little more compassionate. Mental illness is a sickness. And the brain is a complicated and tricky machine. If your mind disconnects, it’s no telling what you will do. I don’t think Shakir was attempting to be selfish. He was sick. This action was not characteristic of the Shakir we all knew. He would never want to hurt his family or friends or himself under normal circumstances.

Please let not judge him. Just pray for his soul and God’s mercy. He must have been going thru so much pain and I ‘m sure he’s goin thru more now…realizing the pain he has inflicted on his loved ones.

I’m sure his soul is really going through some torment and regret so just pray for his peace of mind. We should all forgive him in our hearts so the burden on his soul is lessened.

God bless you Shakir..love you bruh..

  11. Maestro,

    Completely understood.

It says a lot that you took it down even though you really had no reason to. Apparently you do take criticism very well.

I came down a little hard on you especially considering the facts that I did not know the man like you did, let alone at all and well..it’s your blog.

Simple interactions like these with your fans will help your reputation immensely, and it is good to see that you do it because you care as opposed to just doing it for the good PR.

Keep making solid beats and being a good person.

R.I.P. to Shakir and all of our condolences go out to his family and friends (including you).
